Shamall – the official pages

Eclipsed Rock Magazin: “One of his most exciting works…”

Norbert Krüler, alias Shamall, doesn’t do it under a double album. This time he deals with the shoals of the human mind, from mental illness to uncomfortable truths and agonizing self-discovery. Musically, he spans exactly the same cosmos as always, namely Floydian sceneries, equipped with strong electronic means but also hard guitars, but he succeeds with “Schizophrenia,” one of his musically most exciting works. Right away the almost twenty-minute title track unfolds slowly but powerfully, extremely proggish and gloomy, with the necessary big dynamics and a very cool, high-flying Floydian synthesizer solo. “Foolin’ Myself” shines in return with wonderful acoustic guitar. Shamall indulges in many instrumentals: sometimes neo-classical (“Thoughts”), sometimes spacey and offbeat (“On the Run”), and sometimes prog-metal opera (“World of Emotions”). Otherwise, fittingly, he often sings in high lament registers. Lots of bombastic long tracks, lots of recurrent musical themes, and, as always, everything is one continuous movie that is like a mental rollercoaster ride you have to get into. P.S.: Great surrealistic artwork. Top-Track: Schizophrenia Bewertung: 8/10 c/o Walter Sehrer, Eclipsed Rock Magazin 12/2019 – 01/2020 The track “All the Answers” is included on the new Eclipsed sampler “Music from Time and Space, Vol. 72.” More info also on the Eclipsed website: https://www.eclipsed.de/de/aktuell/music-time-and-space-vol72 “…As always, SHAMALL offers great cinema for the mind. This time the musical theme is even darker: tormenting thoughts to the point of mental self-destruction. Musically, all Eloy and Pink Floyd fans are addressed. “All The Answers” is a nine-minute maelstrom of electronically augmented art rock with hard rock sprinkles….” c/o Eclipsed, 11/2019
